JOB SUMMARY

As a Senior Controls Technician, your main duties would include working with systems and equipment using programmable logic controls, designing, testing, calibrating and operating new control systems.  Gathering and analyzing feedback data from devices for use as needed.  Installing, maintaining and repairing measuring instruments and start-up support of new projects and installations.  Program, troubleshoot, repair and maintain plant equipment in a timely, cost effective manner consistent with established operations procedures and requirements. Mentoring others in their development is a key attribute of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Industrial Electrical. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in PLC control systems. Including electrical design, schematics and panel layout. Experience programming drives, PLC's and HMI's required. Minimum (3) years’ experience working with high speed manufacturing equipment.
  • Formal Technical Training on Control systems including SLC500, Micrologix, ControlLogix, and I/O including digital and analog feedback & control.
  • Strong electromechanical aptitude with knowledge of reading electrical and mechanical schematics. Working knowledge of AutoCAD & AutoCAD Electrical would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with SCADA/MES, visualization and control software such as Inductive Automation Ignition.
  • Experience working with 480VAC including 4-20ma, 0-5V and 0-10V control circuits.
  • Must have knowledge and the ability to perform tasks within industrial control software: RSLinx, RSLogix500, RSLogix5, RSLogix5000, PanelBuilder32 and FactoryTalk View Studio. Must have knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain networking platforms and industrial control software: DeviceNet, ControlNet and Remote I/O, DH+, DH485, EthernetIP and Profibus. HTML / XML, Python/Java programing and its requirements SQL programing experience would be a plus.
  • Formal training and experience working within high voltage/ARC Flash environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Must work well with others in complex troubleshooting scenarios. Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to ascertain - through interaction with production and engineering staff - the requirements for process control computer applications and to identify opportunities and make recommend changes to improve plant performance utilizing current control systems or by improving current systems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze, design, program, troubleshoot, and test applications for control/information systems using ladder logic and function block logic.
  • Knowledge of network mediums including Fiber optics, CAT-5/6, media converters and industrial switches.
  • Must be committed to excellence, possess high standards in work performance and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
  • Extensive knowledge in Root Cause analysis, troubleshooting skills in Hydraulics, Pneumatics, low and high level voltage, logic circuits and in all aspects of mechanical equipment.
  • Able to troubleshoot and maintain advanced controls such as servo, servo amplifier, and servo controllers. Troubleshoot electromechanical issues when they occur including but not limited to installation, diagnosis, calibration, maintenance and repair to equipment and electronic devices.
  • Knowledgeable with the NEC, NFPA, IEEE and other relevant codes and standards. Must be trained in Arc Flash requirements. Preferred: experience in providing training/mentoring in electrical and controls systems.
  • Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Will execute corporate wide control specifications and monitor their implementation along with continual updating of plant specifications as required to include document and revision control procedures for management of design/change.
  • Ability to provide project planning and estimate moderately complex jobs.
  • Extensive knowledge in designing, developing and programming program controllers, graphical user interfaces, databases and networks.
  • Capable of directing the work activities of outside contractors, maintenance technicians, and other associates.
  • Engage operators/technicians in set up, start up and shut down processes and support as needed in control related preventative maintenance throughout the facility.
  • Perform operational support of manufacturing equipment to meet or exceed established production goals in a cost effective manner.
