This Engineering role enhances service quality and equipment reliability by optimizing engineering execution and maintenance processes using Lean practices and Design Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodology. This position is a key link between the maintenance organization and the engineering and manufacturing centers providing input to improve equipment design, reliability, and maintainability. Provides technical, mechanical, electrical and engineering support for The Wine Group operations team, both bottling operations, and winery processing operations


  • Plans and directs engineering activities to meet Operations key performance objectives.
  • Oversees key projects, processes and performance reports.
  • Provides direction on design and development activities to improve, modify or design new equipment, processes and capabilities.
  • Coordinates the creation, development, design, and improvement of the organization’s products and processes in conformance with established business strategies.
  • Highly involved in equipment reliability solutions, root cause analysis for a wide range of manufacturing and winery related equipment.


  • Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new product or improvements of existing ones.
  • Responsible for the documentation of capital projects for the operations group within TWG.
  • Must be willing to supervise project and technical operations teams related to engineering projects.
  • Participates in engineering department and interdepartmental planning and works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization
  • Expected to spend time working with operations departments in order to learn manufacturing and cellar processes and equipment as well as develop leadership skills. Implements TWG vision/strategy, through strong leadership skills.
  • Oversees and handles projects that have short to long term focus
  • Prepares capital engineering plans for operations as directed
  • Prepares, maintains and assures adherence to budgets and schedules for all capital projects
  • Ensures GMP, safety and quality of projects
  • Negotiation with contractors/vendors

  • BS in Engineering
  • 5+ years prior engineering experience preferred in a consumer goods manufacturing environment
  • Project Management experience, PMP certification preferred
  • Aptitude for hands-on work coupled with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal
  • Trained in thermodynamics, structural and mechanical design
  • Possess a level of experience in leadership position- able to provide examples translatable to working with a project or maintenance crew (setting clear expectations, evaluating quality of work, holding accountable)
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex engineering documents
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints
  • Ability to write Technical positions and articles using original or innovative styles.Ability to make effective and persuasive Technical presentations on controversial or complex topics to senior management
  • Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, statistical theory, ability to work and apply concepts using rigorous analysis
  • Experience in CAD/Solidworks, PLC programming and other manufacturing/industry related control programs
  • Ability to apply principles of logic combined with applied scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
  • Ability to deal with concrete and abstract variables
  • Ability to effectively utilize outside engineering resources to accomplish Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical portions of projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of technologies in different industries
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task & follow-up


  • Working environment has exposure to both indoors and outdoors and related warehouse/production equipment and associated noise levels
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in the performance of various tasks in the warehouse/production environment
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
